Student Surgical Association Hong Kong

Student Surgical Association of Hong Kong (SSAHK) is a student organisation jointly run by medical students from HKU and CUHK, to inspire more medical students or secondary school students to become aspiring surgeons by broadening their horizons in different surgical specialties.

Main Events & Activities

Careers Night

Prestigious surgeons are invited as guest speakers to share the ups and downs in their careers. Participants can expect to learn what a normal day is like for the guest surgeons, as well as their journeys in becoming a surgeon.

Surgical Taster Camp

A two-day event aimed at secondary school students who are interested in
applying to study medicine in Hong Kong and would like to learn more about surgery.

Basic Suturing Workshop

Our suturing workshops provide an opportunity for medical students to get early exposure and hands-on experience on different suturing and knot-tying techniques.

Advanced Suturing Workshop

The Advanced Suturing Workshop acts as an add-on to what was taught in the Basic Suturing Workshop and the techniques taught will be applied to a clinical setting

The Hong Kong Intercollegiate Board of Surgical Colleges Membership Examinations

The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong has established its own membership examination (MHKICBSC Examination) in 2008 which is internationally recognised. The MHKICBSC Examination is organized by the Hong Kong Intercollegiate Board of Surgical Colleges (HKICBSC) comprising the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine, Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists and the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong (the Colleges).
